We are getting settled into a routine. On Monday the 7th, we took a walk with Michael in the stroller on a nature trail that runs alongside a nearby street. We went to Unicentro again. That place is big; everyday we find a new wing to explore. We've found several gifts we want to bring home. ;) Michael ate his first McDonald's french fry; he is on his way to being fully American-ized now. Ha. He also took 5-6 steps all by himself with a big ole smile on his face. When we woke him up at 10:00 for his last breathing treatment, he had an "accident" all over our bed while we were changing his diaper. So we had to call housekeeping to come change our sheets. Again, the day couldn't have been completely sane. ;)
Michael wants to wish Papa Ford a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY from 2,200 miles away!
Today, Tuesday the 8th, was pretty much the same. Ford met with Maria Elena downstairs while Michael and I napped. She just wanted to check in to see how we were doing. We ventured out again this afternoon. It rained most of the day, so we weren't out very long. We ate our first traditional Colombian hamburger. It was very good! We got ice cream at this place called Ventolini, a restaurant with Italian fare. Maria Elena said we had to get Ventolini ice cream, and she was right - it was wonderful! Michael had a few small bites and loved it too. Michael is getting used to baby food. He loves sweet potatoes, mixed vegetables, carrots, even green beans, and of course, any fruit. We skyped with Gram, Pop and Blake again and Michael put on a little show for them by walking all over the place. ;) Then we skyped with Mamai, Doug, Lauren, Ainsley, Brian, Rebecca and Sophie. Mamai cooked dinner for Lauren's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LALA! We are very jealous - they got homecooked roast, potatoes, and rice and gravy, and probably cookie cake. Arrrggghhhhh...... Michael was a tired little boy tonight. He screamed straight through his bath and bottle. I mean it, he SCREAMED. Ford said "he won tonight." Again, aaarrrrgggghhhhh..............
We are hanging in tough though. The routine makes it easier. Today marks our seventh day in Colombia. One week down! Our estimated time in Colombia is 3-4 weeks, so we hope we only have around 2 or so to go. ;) Tomorrow, we go with Maria Elena to ICBF and they sign off on the adoption. Then our attorney takes all the paperwork to the Colombian court in Cali. Then, we wait the 2-3 weeks for the judge to sign the official adoption decree. We hope to take some new outings during this time - to the zoo, to swim, to the children's museum, and maybe some other neat sightseeing places around the city to make the time go by faster. We love hearing from all of you, and we miss you!
Some nights they do win! Cala did NOT want me running on the treadmill today (I didn't either!). All I think is I wish they could talk and say what is wrong, but then we don't want them growing too fast--huh!?!? Praying the time there is as short as possible and that you get to enjoy as much a possible while there!
